After posting the last entry I took mother to a big room here
and did a puzzle. It was raining and a walk wasn't possible.
Others were there playing cards and stopped by.
We stood outside under cover for a bit afterwards.
Just now she called grumbling about wanting to leave
and not liking this place...
I told her what we did today...
I told her that no matter where she lived,
she would have still been stuck inside today... she agreed.
Then I said to be thankful..
be thankful she has a warm place to stay, out of the rain.
"yes..."
To be grateful for her apartment..
She tried to weakly be negative about her apartment again.
I reminded her to think of things to be grateful for
to not get aggravated then not sleep.
The conversation ended that she was glad I was nearby.
Nighty night, I love you...

Awww she still wishes you a restful sleep.. I know it is hard but be glad in the times you have. Hugs to you!!
Every day that my dad and my grandmother were in nursing homes, they would ask me to take them home. I was not the one in charge, so I had no power to do so. I know how hard it is to leave your parent there. You have a wonderful attitude. I wish I had known the right thing to say the way you did. Helping her to see a positive side is the best thing you can do. Just a change of attitude, no matter where you are, can make all the difference in the world. One thing my mom did for my grandmother was to take some of her personal belongings, like a chair, to her room there, to make it feel more like home. My mother in law had a bulletin board that we all put pictures of our kids up so she could look at them during the day. It's so hard to lose your independence. Since this is the first time I ever stopped by your blog, I don't know how long she has been there, but maybe in time, she will make friends that will make it easier for her. God bless you both.
She has her own apartment down the hall from me
