Things Fall Away
I said this to a neighbor whose husband has Alzheimer after she said
they went to the movies and after an hour he wanted to go home.
I said that things fall away- as in things you used to do together fall away.
They just become too complex, stressful and a waste of energy for the caregiver.
I encountered yet another thing I will not do again with my mother yesterday.
Potluck dinner's are something I look forward to and brought mother with me.
Unfortunately, the repeated questions that afternoon, then
the repeated phone calls prior were enough to make me totally
shut down.
All I wanted to do was run outside.

I will never think negatively about mother's with children.
who are late, who don't cook for themselves, place is a mess,
are at their wits end in the store.
I will also not think negatively about family members who
are at their wits end about their elderly parent.
I understand.
