Day 46

My sister called the home to ask how mom was doing
She said they were "snippy" and said to ask me .
She thought they would be friendlier.

I said with the virus there had been staff changes
and maybe they didnt know her...
How often do you call?
her reply....


She doesn't




well noshitsherlock they arent going to give info to a stranger
and I am glad they didnt.
FacePalm's so hard I knock myself out 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Day 34 Lockdown

Mother's memory care home is really astounding.
If i could only share the emails they send me of what they are
doing for their staff and residents to keep them safe.
They even set up negative pressure rooms to isolate
just in case. They are offering to double bonus pay if they stay COVID
free.
Personally, I feel my mother is being better cared for during this
than she was before !
Yesterday I was sent a photo and video of her painting .
She has not been doing Anything for over a year.
By this I mean she has been quite bored with nothing to do
but wander. I have not witnessed any of the residents with
anything infront of them to look at or do for years.
All the activity toys, cloths to fold, drums, everything- are gone.
The only program is someone coming in and playing music.


In the picture she is SO happy and looks very healthy.
She turned 93 this week.

Birthday coming up

Today i got mom a birthday card
the type she loves
A card for a little girl

i cannot believe i havent been able to hug her for a month
and now i am mailing her a card
instead of being with her
such a strange torture
worse than losing her memory of me
now i cannot even touch her

I also bought a thank you card for her floor
the people fighting to keep her safe.

I am not alone with this pain
there are so many many others who cannot be with their
loved ones as they pass away
