I got a call at eleven AM on Sunday from Seacrest.
(staff person)was on the phone saying that they see that dad has a black eye.
She then tells me that Saturday afternoon (after dinner?) my father was waiting for the elevator with a bunch of other residents when all of a sudden there was an outbreak of noise. She ran over to the elevator to find my dad picking up his glasses. The other residents said that the (described) man had hit my father. Dad said he was ok.
I called my dad and asked him what happened and he said the guy punched him in the eye and knocked his glasses off knocking the lens out & bending the frame. He also said he couldn't remember much else & was fuzzy so I decided to bring him to the emergency room & get checked out.
His more detailed description came out then.
"I was waiting for the elevator and this (described person) guy was making noises, so I "whoah" 'd at him (huffed)
and he punched me in the eye".
Today--
I just finished talking to his social worker-
The staff told her nothing about being there for the incident-- only that they discovered him with a black eye Saturday. The social worker started to tell me you can get a black eye by falling & giving it to yourself (!!!)
She seemed quite confused when I told her that they had told me about him being hit in front of the elevators.
I do not know what to do because there aren't any other places with private rooms that the VA will pay for so I am hesitant to do anything, and so is my dad.
