Finally I was able to bring mother outside and sit in the sunshine.
It is very important for mental and physical health to expose
your eyes and skin to bright light.
We sat out there for almost two hours doing ankle and leg movements.
Unfortunately that night she called me experiencing sundowning.
She was upset thinking she had just sat around doing nothing all day.
I was able to relieve her by telling her we had been outside
in the sun all afternoon and that now the day was done.
She happily accepts my word as I tell her what we do
saying "Oh good, I'm glad we got out."
she cannot remember anything...
Frightening to think a person could lie to her and she would believe it.
Poor thing, it is such a strange disease.

You are so right about the lieing thing. Scary and why we kept my grandmother at home as long as we could. She was a wanderer and would find a way out of a locked place sooo easy. Scared someone would pick her up and lie to her and she would believe what they told her. The mind is a miraculous thing when it works well but oh so sad when it is confused and doesn't. GLAD she can believe what you say and is happy with your answers.
